It all started and still takes life from the land that our grandfather, Erminio Stefano, bought in the late 1940's in Casamassella, a wonderful small town in Puglia, “the heel” of Italy. Safely back from the war, he started making wine, growing his own vegetables, and baking all kinds of flour-derived products. This baking turned into the family’s main business for the years to come.
Our father, Antonio Stefano, learned the business while working with his father. He worked hard to grow the business and expanded it from local to regional. In 1970, our father decided to brand the family business with the name of “Vigne Vecchie” and opened a bakery, which helped immensely getting the production capability he needed. The English translation of Vigne Vecchie is “the old vineyard”. This was the name under which the land was then known by the locals.
Many years later, Antonio’s first son Erminio, named after his grandfather, and his brother Andrea decided to push the expansion of their family brand even further. Their aim is to make it an international brand synonymous with authenticity, quality, and elegance; all traits directly connected with their Italian heritage.
In 2018, Erminio and Andrea opened their own American company to develop the family-owned brand “Vigne Vecchie Italian Food” product portfolio through direct sales to consumers, through Amazon, VVjustitalian.com, and wholesale specialty food distributors.
In 2020, thanks to its vertical integration from field to table, the high quality of their products available to the market at a very competitive price, the increasing interest of the market into healthy and natural food products and the high demand of real authentic Italian products, the VV Team was able to successfully launch their own line of “Tarallini” through the organization of a distribution and online fulfillment center and a communication and digital marketing strategy.
